What If You Don't Get What I Ordered Online?

What If You Do Not Get What I Ordered Online?

If you order online and if the item you received is damaged, faulty, not fit for the purpose they are supplied for or not the item listed as purchased, the Consumer Rights Act protects you. You have the same rights as you have when buying face to face. You have the right to reject, right to repair or replacement depending on the length of time you’ve owned the product.

Even if the goods aren’t faulty, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods without providing any reason and supplier must offer a refund. You have another 14 days to return the goods once you have informed the retailer. The retailer must refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back.

You can reject the faulty item in 30 days and be entitled to a full refund. Your 30-day right to reject starts from the date you take ownership of the goods. For online shopping, your 30-day right to reject would not start until your goods are delivered to you.

After 30 days, you can choose whether you want the goods to be repaired or replaced. The item must be repaired or replaced if you return it within 6 months – unless the supplier can prove it wasn’t faulty when you bought it. However, after 6 months the liability shifts and you will need to prove that the fault was present at the time of sale before a refund will be granted. If the attempt at a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, you can then claim a refund or a price reduction if you wish to keep the product.
